The 2008 Robert Trudell Public Library Education LARC Scholarship Award
Robert Trudell (1930-2006) was a life-long public librarian. After beginning in libraries in his native Buffalo area, he went on to successively serve as the Director of the Olean Public Library, the Harborfields Public Library and finally at the Greenburgh Public Library in Westchester County. Once his early "retirement" became boring, Bob came back to work as a Reference Librarian in The Nyack Library. Always a distinguished professional throughout his long career, he endeared himself to staff and public alike at each of his workplaces. He was an accomplished poet and a genuine humanitarian. Bob was a past president of the New York Library Association, and received NYLA's Intellectual Freedom Award in 1984. The candidate must:
