13 HAV, 7:00 PM Frida Kahlo: Painter of Particular Pain. Join us to explore and bear witness to Kahlo's private pain as painted across the canvas of her life. Discussed by Professor Susan Slater-Tanner, this multimedia presentation and lecture will be a brief overview of Frida's family dynamic, childhood ailments, the political milieu of the Mexican Revolution and that effected Mexican women and art. Examine lesser known images created by Kahlo depicting her notorious trolley accident, and event that would affect her health and her art for the remainder of her life and consider her volatile relationship with Diego Rivera beyond the Hollywood cinematic version that we saw on Tuesday of this artist's life and loves.
