Award Criteria



The LARC Award will be given to recognize a meritorious contribution to the improvement of libraries and library service for the Rockland County community. The award will recognize such individuals as authors, historians, illustrators, legislators, librarians or library employees, as well as groups with projects directed towards or about libraries. At the discretion of the committee, more than one award may be given.

The Outstanding Services to Libraries Award may be presented to an individual or group that has performed by sustained and/or extraordinary activity a library or information service which significantly contributes to the development, promulgation, or growth and extension of library and information services to the people of Rockland County. Awards may be considered for significant contributions in at least, but not limited to, one of the following:

  1. Promotion of library services through exemplary performance and recognition by the public served.
  2. Creative application of the use of technology in the delivery of library and information services.
  3. Promotion and development of improved public understanding of library and information services through effective legislative or public relations programs.
  4. Creation of original work regardless of the medium used which substantially contributes to the improvement of library and information services.
